Are you still shipping fabrics amid the COVID-19 Pandemic?

Yes, we are still open for business and shipping orders with our usual speed.  As a home-based business we feel fortunate to continue working and providing you with fabrics for your sewing projects.  We continue to practice responsible hand washing and social distancing.

How should I wash my fabrics?

Cottoneer always provides washing instructions in each fabric listing.  Please refer to specific fabric listing for specific washing instructions.

Do you offer swatches?

We offer most of our fabrics at a quarter yard increment and consider that to be a small enough piece to be considered a swatch.

What is a fat quarter?

A fat quarter is ¼ of a yard of fabric, usually measuring 18”(width) x 22”(height).  It’s created by cutting a 1/2 yard of fabric and then cutting along the fold of the fabric.  The height measurement is 1/2 the measurement of the width of the fabric.  For example, wider fabrics will yield taller fat quarters.  See illustration below for clarification.


Do you cut continuous yardage?

Yes, it is our policy to cut continuous yardage whenever possible.  This is true for both single fabric yardage and our bundles.  Please pay attention to the increment size noted in the dropdown menu of each product listing before checking out.  Most of our products are sold in 1/4 yard increments or fat quarter increments.  For example, if you have a fabric in your cart that is sold in 1/4 yard increments, and you would like to order 1 yard of that fabric.  Please enter quantity “4”.  We will cut your fabric as 1 continuous yard.  Please note that we will cut continuous yardage for an even number of fat quarters ordered. If an uneven number of fat quarters is ordered, for example 3 fat quarters, we will cut a continuous half yard and a separate single fat quarter.  If you wish to order a continuous 3/4 yard cut, then please use the 1/4 yard increments option in the dropdown menu.  If for some reason we are unable to cut continuous yardage, we will contact you by email.

How do I return my items?

We’re sorry to say that Cottoneer does not accept returns unless a mistake has been made or a major flaw in the fabric exists.  If a mistake has been made in your order, please email us for full instructions on how to return your items within 30 days of the order being placed.  We regret that we cannot accept any returns from International Addresses.

How do I correct a mistake in my order?

If a mistake has been made in your order, we do sincerely apologize!  Please email us and let us know what the issue is within 30 days of the order being placed.  We will do everything in our power to correct the mistake.

What is considered to be a flaw in fabrics?

Often times, fabrics will be received in pristine condition, but occassionally we receive fabrics with minor flaws that we might miss while cutting orders.  Flaws can be small discolorations, misprinting, or in the worst cases a small hole or tear in the fabric.  In the case of yarn-dyed fabrics (also referred to as “wovens”), small weaving slubs and inconsistencies may occur.  We do not consider these to be flaws but rather to be considered as a unique and beautiful part of their character and overall appeal of the fabric.  If you believe you’ve received a fabric with a corruptible flaw, please email us a picture and we will proceed to find the best solution.

Are the colors in your photographs accurate?

We do our very best to have our photographs be the closest possible representation of the actual fabric.  We take our photographs in natural light and then obsess over editing them to get the truest representation of color possible.  However, all screens have small variances in color.  If you are unsure about a color, please feel free to email or call us for more information.

Do you have a newsletter?

Yes we do!  You can find the form at the bottom of our website.  Placing an order with Cottoneer Fabrics will automatically sign you up for our newsletter.  While we hope you do not, you can easily unsubscribe for the newsletter at anytime.  We send news of newly arrived fabrics, discounts, and behind the scenes news and info.  You can sign up for our newsletter here.

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card will be charged as soon as your order is accepted and processed.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards or debit cards. We also accept Paypal.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept checks or money orders.

What can I do if my payment is declined.

Oh no! Here are a few things to check if your payment didn’t go through:

    1. Check that your card’s billing details (such as the security code and billing address) match what you’ve entered into our system.
    2. Is your card expired?
    3. Your card issuer may have declined your payment. They don’t tell us the reason for this, so it’s best to check with them before trying your card again.
    4. If none of these apply, please contact us at [email protected]. We’re happy to help!

How can I update my order?

Please email us at [email protected] as soon as possible if you would like to cancel, combine, or change your order. We fulfill orders quickly, but we’ll do our best to process your request.  If an order has already been cut, we will not be able to update your order.

How can I check the status of my order?

You can inquire of your order status by emailing us at [email protected].  You will receive  an email notification at the time your order is placed, and again once your order ships.

Will I be charged sales tax?

Only customers whom reside in California will be charged sales tax.

Can I use multiple coupon codes at checkout?

No. You can use one promo code per order. If you’ve encountered two valid Cottoneer promo codes during your travels through the Internet, please choose the one you want to use more.

Can I use a promo code on top of another promotion?

Yes.  You can use one promo code on top of another markdown offered on the website.  For example, you may visit the sale section and also apply a promo code as long as your order falls within the parameters of the promo code.  Only, one promo code will be accepted per order.

I just missed a sale!  Will you honor the sale prices? 

Unfortunately the short answer to this is no we cannot.  However we suggest signing up for our newsletter so that you are always informed of our promotions.  Please add our email address ([email protected]) to your contacts so that our emails don’t go into your spam folder.

Will I be charged duty or customs taxes?

If you are outside of the United States, you may be charged a customs, duty or tax fee.  Any customs, duties or taxes are the responsibility of the customer. We cannot control whether a package gets delayed and/or charged duties and taxes by the customs office in any international country.  All prices are in US dollars. Cottoneer is not responsible for any exchange rate differences.

What are your shipping days?

Our website www.cottoneerfabrics.com is open 24 hours a day.  Orders are cut/packed/shipped Monday thru Friday and we acknowledge all major US Holidays per the USPS shipping schedule.

Do you offer wholesale or terms?

At this time we do not offer wholesale or terms.  However we do offer very competitive prices for our large bulk customers.  Please inquire at [email protected].

What is your preorder policy?

Cottoneer Fabrics will offer preorders for fabrics that we deem highly desirable and highly anticipated.  You can find these fabric collections under our Preorder menu option.  Placing a preorder means you are reserving fabric by paying for a listing up-front, before Cottoneer receives this fabric in hand.  Since Cottoneer Fabrics does not have the fabric in hand at the time of the preorder, please understand that we will ship all preorder fabrics immediately upon receiving said fabrics.  The estimated date of arrival is clearly noted in each preorder listing.  Sometimes a manufacturer can experience delays or mis-shipments, and these situations are outside of our control.  If for any reason there is an issue with your preorder (ie delays, missing piece, etc), we will contact you immediately to make you aware of the situation, and proceed to find a reasonable solution.  Please know that all Preorder sales are final.  Preorder sales cannot be canceled, altered, traded or combined with other orders.  We appreciate your understanding.  Please do not order in stock items with your preorder, please place multiple orders if other items are needed more immediately.
